Maradona, The Legend Lives On

The great Diego Maradona led Argentina to victory in the 1986 World Cup, however later in his life he battled drug abuse. He is an Argentinian soccer legend who is one of the best footballers of all time. Born on October 30, 1960, in Villa Fiorito, a province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Diego received a ball at the age of 3 years old and quickly became devoted to the game.

Maradona and his magnificent hair

At the age of 10 years old, Maradona joined Los Cebollitas which is a youth team of Argentinos Juniors known as one fo the biggest clubs in Argentina. The young prodigy led Los Cebollitas to an amazing 136 game unbeaten streak. Maradona shortly after made his professional debut for the senior team before the age of 16. His height didn’t stop this legendary midfielder to execute in the field. His ability to create chances for himself and his teammates is remarkable, also being able to lead club teams to championships in Argentina, Italy, and Spain.

One of the craziest moments known for Maradona was the 1984 Copa Del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao. He was being a sore loser and went absolutely crazy on his opponents which included knee to the face, punches, cleats to the private area, and karate kid air kicks. It was crazy and remarkable to see him take on half of the players. Despite his brilliance on the field, Maradona became addicted to cocaine while playing in Spain. He endured another high profile suspension three years later, this time for testing positive for ephedrine during the World Cup. Overall he will go down in the books and will be known as one of the greatest footballers the world has ever seen.
