Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal want Dries Mertens

North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotpsur could be setting up for a transfer brawl to sign Napoli’s one and only forward Dries Mertens. The Naples club are going through a crisis and several prime players including Mertens and Jose Callejón could be sold by the club. Both Milan clubs, Juventus and Roma are interested in the signing of Mertens who has scored an impressive 88 goals.

Mertens

Mertens provided 47 assists and 88 goals in 216 appearances for them in Serie A since joining from PSV in 2013. Even though he’s 5’7”, that doesn’t stop him from being a complete unit on the field. Mertens is a very talented player, but doubts remain about wether Spurs would spend the money on a 32 year old forward, even if he is available at a cheap price. If they were to spend the money on the 32 year old Mertens, they could be losing a chance to sign a young up coming star in the future.

Banger

Spurs have already enough quality in their attacking midfield or forward areas. In my opinion they should focus on the improve their back line instead. Mertens could be smart signing for the gunners. A player like him could give them a lift and improve their team overall. He is a talented player and has performed well on the field almost every time he plays.
