Messi’s comeback after calf injury

Lionel Messi stated that he feels “fatigued and heavy, lacking rhythm” after coming back from a calf injury. He did not attend the beginning matches of Barcelonas 2019-20 campaign. After the 2019 Copa America he was back into training, but almost surely sidelined. Suffering this would have him lacking his peak performance and reassurance to get back on his game.

He attended the match against Borussia Dortmund last week as a substitute. Ernesto Valverde played a safe move to not start him, so he surely reassures that he will recover fully. Messi played, but couldn’t break the draw 0-0 against Dortmund. He also came off the bench on Saturday against Granada. This was his first La Liga appearance of the season which he has to come back strong. Due to his injury and lack of rhythm he couldn’t stop barca from falling into a 2-0 defeat against Granada. After everything is settled between the players and Messi’s injury they are going to come back strong and stable as a team.

The Argentinian stated that “We’ve started badly and are struggling to create play and chances. It’s just the start, but we have to respond now. There’s no more time, and we have to improve a lot. We’re aware of this. It’s a team thing. I have no doubts that we’ll improve.” Their start to the season hasn’t played out how they thought it would. It is a team effort and I believe that Messi will soon adapt to make those changes to improve as one.
